Review Guidelines

Content rules and moderation standards for reviews, replies, photos, and videos on Moonwalk.
Moonwalk Review Guidelines
Reviews are the heart of Moonwalk. They're how customers share what they actually experienced with a business, how other people decide where to go next, and how businesses learn what's working and what isn't. We built Moonwalk so that real, honest reviews from real people are what shapes the platform — not paid promotion, sponsored content, or anyone's ability to game the system.
These Guidelines cover what we expect from reviews on Moonwalk — text, photos, videos, and any replies from businesses or other users — and they apply equally to all of them. They explain what counts, how we moderate, how ratings and rankings work, and what happens if you break the rules.
By posting reviews or replies on Moonwalk, you agree to these Guidelines and to the Moonwalk Terms of Service.
Content principles
Every review on Moonwalk is expected to meet four basic principles.
1. Legality and compliance
Reviews must comply with applicable laws and Moonwalk's other rules. Don't post content that is illegal, sexually explicit, that depicts or promotes violence or terrorism, or that otherwise violates Moonwalk's Terms of Service. Don't post content that violates basic standards of public decency.
2. Authenticity
Reviews must be based on a real experience you actually had with the business — its products, its services, or its space. Don't fabricate experiences. Don't write reviews you were paid, incentivized, or asked to write. Don't copy or plagiarize someone else's review. Relatives, employees, and other stakeholders of a business may not post biased reviews of that business.
3. Usefulness and relevance
Reviews should be about your actual experience — the products or services, the staff, the atmosphere, the overall vibe — and should give other people something to go on when they're deciding whether to visit. Single-word reviews, off-topic posts, and very short reviews that say nothing about the experience may be hidden or de-prioritized.
4. Inclusive and friendly
Express your opinions the way you would in real life. You can be critical, you can be disappointed, you can be enthusiastic — but you cannot personally attack, slander, defame, or harass anyone. Don't disclose private information about other people. Don't try to manipulate public opinion through coordinated reviews or bad-faith attacks.
How reviews are moderated
Every review you post on Moonwalk goes through moderation before it becomes visible to other users. During this period, the review is visible only to you. If we determine the review meets these Guidelines, it will be published. If not, we may decline to publish it, ask you to edit it, or remove it.
Anonymous reviews
You can choose to post a review anonymously. Anonymous reviews still appear in the review feed, but they hide your real name, profile picture, and link to your profile from other users. You can switch a review to or from anonymous at any time after posting.
How reviews are ranked
When other users browse a business on Moonwalk, the order of the reviews they see is determined automatically by our ranking system. The system considers signals like the credibility of the reviewer, how recent the review is, how detailed the review is, and how helpful other users have found it. There is no human in the loop reordering reviews on individual businesses, and Moonwalk does not accept payment to reorder, hide, or surface reviews.
Star ratings
A business's overall star rating is calculated from genuine user reviews using a model that considers the credibility of each review, when it was posted, the quality of the review, and the total number of reviews. The star rating is determined entirely by the data — Moonwalk does not sell ratings, and ratings are not influenced by whether a business has any commercial relationship with us.
We may hide or suppress a business's star rating in certain situations, including when:
- The business has been found to violate Moonwalk's rules
- The business is not yet open
- The business has permanently closed
- We have flagged the rating as unreliable due to suspected manipulation
What happens if you break these Guidelines
Reviews and other content can be removed at any time — including after publication — if we determine they violate these Guidelines. Where a user has repeatedly or seriously violated these Guidelines, Moonwalk may also:
- Hide or remove some or all of the user's reviews, photos, videos, and other content.
- Restrict the user's ability to post reviews or other content for a period of time.
- Suspend or terminate the user's Moonwalk account.
- Take any other action we believe is appropriate, including cooperating with law enforcement, regulators, or affected third parties.
The action we take will reflect the nature and severity of the violation, the user's history on the platform, and the impact on Moonwalk and its community. Moonwalk's decision to take any action (or no action) in one case does not waive our right to take action in another.
Separately from any action Moonwalk takes, posting false, misleading, or defamatory reviews — or content that infringes on someone else's rights — may expose you to legal liability under applicable law. Reviews, statements, photos, videos, and other content you provide on Moonwalk may be used as evidence in legal proceedings.
